+ Gorgeous retro styling. + Analog controls for ISO, exposure and shutter speed offer a joyful shooting experience for hobbyists, as well for beginners to understand how these factors combine in the resulting image. + Light and relatively compact making it easy to take everywhere. + Great image quality and colors. + The 28mm F2.8 kit is ideal as the lens is quite compact and offers a 42mm equivalent focal length that is good for an all round purpose. + This kit is a good stepping stone onto the Z system as the 28mm lens can be used on a full frame body down the line. - The camera does not have in-body stabilization, so it is not ideal for handheld shooting in low-light situations. - The Z system lacks lenses optimized for the APS-C format.

+ Absolutely gorgeous retro styling. + It has analog controls for exposure, ISO and shutterspeed which provides an excellent shooting experience. I especially recommend it for beginners to understand how these factors (including aperture on your lens) combine together in the resulting image. + Lightweight and relatively compact compared to other NIkon APS-C (DX) cameras. + Great image quality and colors + I highly recommend the 28mm F2.8 kit as it offers a good all-rounder 42mm equivalence. The lens is compact which fits in well with this camera. + Both camera and the 28mm lens can be a good stepping stone towards Nikon's growing full-frame Z system. - The camera lacks in-body image stabilization. So you better keep your hands steady or use a tripod in low-light situations. - Nikon Z system is still quite new, so there very few lenses optimized for the APS-C format.
